Netball umpiring isn’t just about knowing the rules—it’s about being a vital part of the Dynamites family and the wider Australian netball community. Umpires are the backbone of keeping our game safe, fair, and fun for everyone involved. Plus, it’s a fantastic way to build skills like communication, resilience, and leadership. Whether you’re on the court or holding the whistle, you’re shaping the future of netball!

Dynamites value the importance of our umpires. We are keen to continue to expand and develop our umpires for the upcoming winter season.

For the first time in 2025, Dynamites will move to an umpire squad model to provide support and learning opportunities for all our umpires to develop.

Your first step towards becoming an umpire is to attend Perth Netball Association’s (PNA) “Netball Rules Workshops” during the April, July and October school holidays. For further information and to register, please visit the PNA website.

Then make sure you register for the PNA Green Shirts umpiring program. This program is designed to support first-year umpires, setting you up for success. This is highly competitive program available to all players across PNA clubs and positions are limited and fill fast so make sure you do this as soon as they open in February). Once you’ve completed the Green Shirts program, you’ll head back to the club, ready to umpire.

Dynamites are committed to supporting and developing our umpires. We have Club Umpire Mentor Coaches to provide regular coaching and mentoring for our umpires. We’re keen to develop umpires to attain the National C Badge.
