Welcome to the May edition. Game On Launch Day was a cracker, the long weekend gives everyone a breather, and we are gearing up for the FightMND Round 5 with an Ice Bucket Challenge you will not want to miss. Plus a moment to mark National Volunteer Week and say thank you to the people who make this club run.

★ Recap
🎉  Game On Launch Day & Specialist Training
What a day at Robertson Park
Sunday 17 May 2026

Our Season Launch lived up to its name. Robertson Park was buzzing from start to finish, with players, parents and coaches turning out in full Dynamites force. The specialist training sessions across our three age groups were a standout, with our qualified coaches putting players through their paces and lifting skills ahead of round one.

A special thanks to our Coach Coordinators Eloise and Robyn for organising the specialist coaching and fun court sessions, and to our partners for the day, Tennis Central and Busy Girl Club, who helped make the experience bigger than netball alone.

Thank you also to every family who came along, to the coaches and committee members who ran the day, and to the City of Vincent for backing us as the only community netball club in the area.

The energy on Sunday is exactly what Dynamites is about. Inclusive, vibrant and connected. We cannot wait to see that same spirit on the courts this Winter season.

📅  Long Weekend Break
No games week of 28, 29, 30 May
PNA competition pauses for the WA Day long weekend

PNA is taking a break for the long weekend, which means no Dynamites games on Thursday 28, Friday 29 or Saturday 30 May. Enjoy the time off, rest sore legs, and we will see you back at Matthews the following week.

Cheer on Coaches Charlotte & Eloise
Saturday 6 June 2026  ·  After the 11:30am game

The Big Freeze is one of Australian sport’s most loved traditions. Born from AFL legend Neale Daniher’s fight against Motor Neurone Disease, it has raised millions for MND research and brought the country together behind the iconic blue beanie.

This year PNA is joining the fight, hosting a FightMND Round at Matthews on Saturday 6 June with an Ice Bucket Challenge, and two of our own are putting their hands up to take the plunge. Coaches Charlotte and Eloise are doing it for a great cause, and we want every Dynamites family there to cheer them on.

Bring the kids, bring your loudest cheer, and come down to watch two of our coaches freeze for a great cause. Every dollar to FightMND goes toward research and supporting Australians living with MND.

🌧  Weather: Games & Training
Plan to attend, every game, every weather
Important for new Dynamites families

Netball runs differently to school sport when it comes to weather. PNA will only cancel games for lightning or genuinely unsafe conditions, and they do not announce cancellations in advance.

That means heavy rain, wind or cold is not a reason to stay home. Players and families should prepare to attend and play in all conditions. Pack a rain jacket, a warm change of clothes, and an umbrella for the sideline.

If conditions become unsafe on the day, PNA will let everyone know over the loudspeaker at Matthews, either before or during the game.

Training is the same
Matthews & Robertson Park  ·  on, rain or shine

Unless your Coach contacts you directly, training goes ahead in all weather. Bring layers, sturdy shoes and a positive attitude.

A gentle nudge for families: training is one of the best things your child can do for their mental health. An hour on court with their teammates, moving, laughing and switching off from school, often does more than another hour at the desk. The kids who least feel like coming are often the ones who get the most out of it.

🤝  Sideline Reminder

As we head deeper into the season, please take a moment to refresh yourself on our Philosophy and Code of Conduct. The intensity lifts in regular fixtures, and our umpires (most of them young people giving up their weekends) deserve our respect at every match.

Cheer loudly. Support the kids. Trust the umpires. That is the Dynamites way.

💜  National Volunteer Week

Your Year to Volunteer
Thank you to every Dynamites volunteer
National Volunteer Week  ·  18 to 24 May 2026

This week is National Volunteer Week, and 2026 has also been declared the United Nations International Year of Volunteers for Sustainable Development. The theme this year is Your Year to Volunteer.

Dynamites does not exist without our volunteers. The coaches who run training in the cold and the rain. The team managers chasing scoresheets, wet weather updates and shared drinks bottles. The committee members making decisions long after the kids are in bed. The parents stepping up to score, set up, pack down and bring the oranges. Every single one of you is the reason this club works.

As we head into the heart of the season, take a moment to thank a volunteer at your next game. A genuine thank you goes a long way, and it is what keeps people coming back year after year.

Thinking about getting involved? We always have room for more hands, whether that is helping at events, supporting your team behind the scenes, or stepping into a committee role. Have a chat with your Coordinator or reach out to any committee member. You do not need experience, just willingness.
