Specialist Training Clinic – 3 June

(Various times Depending on Age Group)

We’re excited to offer a specialist training clinic for our Year 5–12 senior players on Tuesday 3 June delivered by highly experienced netballers in the three key positions of netball – shooting, defence and attack. These elite coaches will lead tailored, position-specific sessions, supported by our own Dynamites coaches, at Robertson Park. The program will include a warm-up, followed by breakout sessions in small groups, giving players the chance to build skills and confidence directly from some of the best in the game. Players will then be divided into the three key areas of Netball – Defence, Shooting or Mid-Court.

Defence – Chanel Gomes

Chanel was joint winner of the 2010 Most Valuable Player at the 21/U national championships and was also named winner of the prestigious Gweneth Benzie Award that same year, which recognised the athlete at the Australian Institute of Sport that had the most potential to become a Diamond. Gomes represented Australia at the FastNet and Fast5 format in 2010, 2011 and 2012 before being called into the Diamonds team for the 2012 Quad Series, making her debut in the second game at Newcastle.  She was part of the Diamonds team that toured England in 2013.  The talented defender spent four seasons playing with West Coast Fever in the ANZ Championship.

Shooting – Myra Ugle

Is a current player for the Peel Lightning Open Team in the Western Australian Netball League as a GS/GA. With a huge passion for netball and community participation, she loves working with players of all ages to help develop their skills on and off the netball court.  Myra started playing netball when she was 8 years old at her local netball association in a small country town. At a young age she fell in love with the game and has developed many skills from netball. She loves coaching emerging players and believes that netball is a sport for everyone and as long as you are willing to put in the hard work you will give yourself plenty of opportunities to play at a higher level.

Mid-Court – Carly Harris

Carly is a centre court player who currently plays for Southside Demons in the Gold Industry Group Western Australian Netball league. She can play all 3 positions with defensive focus.  She started netball when she was 11 for Bletchley Park netball club which plays at Southern Districts Netball Association. Carly played in her first representative team at the age of 12 for her local association and have since played in many representative and regional teams. Carly made her WANL debut at the age of 16 for Southside Demons and have played over 50 games for the club. She has played in 2 GIGWANL Grand Finals and earned a starting position in both games.  Throughout the years she has learnt how to develop her mindset and work at a high intensity.  Carly enjoys getting out into the community and sharing what she has learnt  with younger athletes.

This is a fantastic opportunity for our players to access high-level training and be inspired by coaches who have represented Australia and played at the highest levels of the sport.
